The asteroid 2005 WK 4, which is between 260 and 580 meters in diameter, will pass to within about 8 times the distance of the Moon on August 9th. It will be resolved to about 4 meters per pixel by the Goldstone space radar, giving an image on the order of 100 by 100 pixels. Not exactly high definition, but some details should be visible.
Perhaps the most interesting feature of this asteroid, known at this time, is that it appears to be a fast rotator, with a possible period of 2 to 3 hours. This puts it near the upper limits of rotation speed for a loosely consolidated object of this size. If the orbital period turns out to be less than 2.2 hours, it is presumably a monolithic object, or one with unexpected internal strength.
