Why do they resist? Many people are a) resistant to change and b) many have been bought the fallacy that ideology trumps evidence.

The article does not address the resistance, it addresses the authority fallacy.

I think it has to do with Medical studies that seem to contradict themselves due to poor reporting, and the Malthusians getting it wrong--take the population bomb
