What is(are) your favorite year(or years) for movies?

For me 1999 was one of the best:

- Galaxy Quest
- The Matrix
- October Sky
- Bowfinger
- Office Space
- The Cider House Rules
- Analyze This
- The Thomas Crown Affair
- Mystery Men
- Snow Falling on Cedars

1982 would be a close second:
- Blade Runner
- Star Trek II
- The Thing
- TRON
- The World According to Garp
- Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid
- The Missionary

extending back a bit to the year before
- Excailbur

I'm rather partial to 1968, 1969 and 1970, but especially 1970. That three-year range gave us:

1968

2001: A Space Odyssey
Night of the Living Dead
Planet of the Apes

1969

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Easy Rider
Midnight Cowboy
True Grit

1970

Catch-22
Five Easy Pieces
Little Big Man
M*A*S*H
Patton
They Call me MISTER TIbbs!
Tora! Tora! Tora!
Woodstock

1964

Dr Strangelove -- arguably best sf/comedy ever.
Goldfinger -- arguably, best James Bond ever.
My Fair Lady -- arguably, best musical to date.
Mary Poppins -- arguably, best Disney film.
The Pawnbroker -- groundbreaking, hard-hitting, etc.
A Hard Day's Night -- very popular and influential.
Becket -- historical film with great cast.

Agreeing to the OP. 1999 was the best year I personally witnessed; I came a little late to witness the 1982 blockbuster season ;)

ETA: Wasn't Pi released in 1999 as well?

According to IMB it was from 1998. It sounds like another good one I missed that year, Dark City was also from 1998.
