View Full Version : Earthshine up the wazoo!

Beautiful site this morning. Just the thinnest waning cresent of a moon glowing brightly in the East. The best part though, Earth's glow shining on the dark side of the moon was so bright you could make out the seas. I don't recall seeing Earthshine this bright before. To top it off, hanging directly below the Moon was Venus, still glowing brightly even in the brightening dawn sky. Hope others got to see this. . .

Thanks for the heads up, Wally. Tomorrow morning should be very interesting too--the moon will be lower and smaller of course but it will be 3 or 4 moon widths from Mercury, just 3 degrees below Venus.

Agreed, it was gorgeous. Let's all hope for clear skies tomorrow...

Crikey. It's been drizzling all day. I saw a star between the clouds two days ago, though...Oregon.

Maybe it was too much to expect to see the moon this late--it's almost Ramadan, right? Still, the only clouds in the sky were right there, in the way.
