I was just looking at the Volcanocam
http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/volcanocams/msh/

and thought I was looking at an eruption on the back end of the mountain! :o

Anyone in the area?

Thanks!

To me it looks like the usual plume, early morning--it catches the dawn light so that the shadow area coincides with the ridge line.

Sorry to seem so alarmist about it. This was the first time I've seen the plume so columnar and orange too! Interesting that all that gas is venting from that hole...

You can always check here (http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/Volcanoes/MSH/framework.html) for any bulletins and a link to the seismographs (http://www.geophys.washington.edu/SEIS/PNSN/WEBICORDER/VOLC/welcome.html)for real time updates.

Perhaps our favorite flatulent mountain would be less rumblesome if one served up only Four-Way Chili*, sans the beans.
