Besides the puzzle of how a relatively low mass object like an accretion pulsar can pull in as much matter as a much more massive black hole, there is another riddle. How can this newly discovered object be rotating at the comparatively leisurely rate, for a pulsar, of 1.37 seconds, if its accreting an unusually large amount of matter from its companion star? Shouldn't the in-falling matter impart a quite high rate of spin to the object?
