The feature on Pluto that looks like a huge crater appears to be at least 1/2 of Pluto's diameter in the June 29th image; a dark ellipse is completely surrounded by a bright rim. Wouldn't an impact on that scale destroy the integrity of the planet, and erase all traces of itself? Is an impact crater actually a viable explanation for this feature?

The "pyramidal" mountain looks more conical to me. Very much like our friendly neighborhood stratovolvcanos.
