Is it probable to think of The Big Rip theory as a way of the universe recycling itself? If I understand it correctly, in the end, whatever planets, stars, or any solid objects that are left will be ripped apart by the ever expanding space between particles.

So, am I safe in assuming thatů ehh, a few trillion? years down the line, that the atoms themselves will start ripping apart, and so and so forth until we have an energy universe again? Or is the issue over dark matter/dark energy going to possibly interfere with that line of thinking?

IIRC, the Big Rip prediction is more like 30 billion years!

The Big Rip is one possible extrpolation of dark energy!
