Nice, thanks! Looks like we're headed straight for Alnilam, but we don't quite arrive, correct?

We pass many other stars before the pattern of Orion changes appreciably, illustrating the fact that Orion's main stars are among the most distant that can easily be seen with the unaided eye.

It's a cool effect that the stars' diameters increase as we get closer. Is that based on their distance from the camera, or their apparent magnitude?

Yes, Alnilam is so far away that we didn't reach it before I stopped the video.
Looking at Orion in the night sky, you might guess that all the faint stars in and around the constellation are farther. The animation shows the opposite; Most of them are closer but dimmer.

The size depends on both their apparent magnitude and their distance, as those two values are related. Twice as close means twice the radius, and 4 times the flux. But there are upper and lower limits for star size in the simulation.
