Our astronomy club averages about 50 to 60 people in attendance at each of our monthly meetings, featuring a guest speaker. January's meeting had a presentation on Horizons. We drew in 80 to 90. Newbies have been joining like crazy since last fall and I have never seen so many of them so involved with observing before. This could be the beginning of a big year for astronomy.

I'm not in any astronomy clubs at the moment, but the New Horizons images of Pluto have certainly been very popular on Tumblr, definitely beyond the usual space enthusiast blogs. Many people have even created remixes or other art inspired by them!
