On the Mars One website (http://www.mars-one.com/mission/roadmap) they have displayed their mission road map which states they will launch their first Rover in 2022, a 2nd cargo launch in 2024, and finally a crew launch in 2026 (landing on Mars in 2027, with a 2nd crew departing in 2028).

Is anyone following their progress closely? Do you think they will achieve these timelines?

If yes or no, do you think someone else beat them to Mars (SpaceX, China or American governement)? Who will be the first to land a human on Mars?

In that time line, I know of only robotic missions to Mars with the 1st of the missions to launch within 3 weeks - ExoMars.

As for 1st human landing on Mars, it will be a competition between NASA and SpaceX. No one else have any published manned plans for Mars.

Not see any plans other than then the nice PowerPoint presentations that are on the website of Mars One. They still have a whole lot of technology to develop and the money to raise to pull out a mission like this in that time line.

No. All they have is a few sketches on graph paper and some 3d renderings.
