It's hard to say from your picture, but Mars is striking and easy to recognize. It's one of the five brightest objects in the sky, after the sun, moon, Venus, and Jupiter, and it has a distinctive red color. So if you see a very bright red star, chances are good that it is Mars. I'm not a really dedicated astronomer but I can recognize Venus, Jupiter and Mars from their appearance.

If the resolution depicted in the photos is correct then yes, that must be Mars (vs. Arcturus) as the object seems to show a disk. What was the time of day when the photos were taken?

This is a nice free site for checking such things. (https://www.fourmilab.ch/yoursky/)

Did a quick check for Amsterdam in the early evening, and Mars is currently low in the sky to the Southwest. If that direction is kind of southwest, I would say yes it is Mars.

It was around 22:00. Compass says it's 210 SW.
I was setting up for imaging star trails, and that red blob kept getting in the way. It moved toward that appartment building pretty fast,
So I guessed it might be Mars.
