Like, there'll always be slang, man.

BTW, is "7341" a color?

Almost seems like a joke site.

I still think you're average Marge/Homer, computer quasi-literate parental units will remain hopelessly behind the curve on this. That little "primer" is barely touching the tip.

Interesting variation, I don't see "7" used as a "T" very often.

Yup, and among my favorites, too.

You see it every time you see "1337"

You see it every time you see "1337"

I usually read that as being deliberately spelled backwards, but you can read it either way, the style is that fluid.

Yeah, it's a wonderfully abstract language, isn't it?

! /\/\34|\|, ! (4|\| |*|2377'/ /\/\|_|(|-| |_|53 4|\|'/ (0/\/\|3!|\|47!0|\| 0|= (|-|4|24(73|25 7|-|47 3\/3|\| |23/\/\0713'/ |2353/\/\|3135 73|-| |20/\/\4|\| 41|*|-|4|337. It's just that derivatives of basic 1337 become unreadable very quickly.

Not to mention untypable! Four characters to represent "M", three for "U", one for "C", and three for "H" as in the spelling of "MUCH" as /\/\|_|(|-| !

And that's a regular expression for testing what?

Yeah, only it took me ~10 times as long to type out.

You omitted "I mean," at the beginning. And yes, except for showing off to a very small subset of Internet dwellers, it is useless.

I notice the theme of read your kids slang really translates into look for these key words indicating activities that impinge on Microsoft's profits.

Leet words possibly indicating illegal activity:

"warez" or "w4r3z": Illegally copied software available for download.
"h4x": Read as "hacks," or what a computer hacker does.
"pron": An anagram of "porn," possibly indicating the use of pornography.
"sploitz" (short for exploits): Vulnerabilities in computer software used by hackers.
"pwn": A typo-deliberate version of own, a slang term that means to dominate. This could also be spelled "0\/\/n3d" or "pwn3d," among other variations. Online video game bullies or "griefers" often use this term.

Why do I get the impression they don't care about anything but themselves?

I have no issue with decreasing copyright infringement and computer hacking. I just have issues with advertising bait and switch. Yes I am cynical as well as skeptical.

I don't see anything wrong with saying that. It's just an expression.

They talk about this on the link MoMo posted. Anyway, it's bad parent advice. Let your kids fight their own battles on this one.

My son has dealt with griefers many times. He cried about it when he was little, now he sicks his amassed group of friends on them and reports them to the web host.

I can just see some mom e-mailing the web host, "My son had all his loot ripped off by so and so and I want you to do something about it."
