The models for Proxima b assume a substantial atmosphere. One reads elsewhere that this planet is subject to stellar winds 2000 times stronger than those experienced by Earth. Could any atmosphere withstand the erosive effect of such stellar winds, over the long term? Even the much lesser stellar winds from our Sun were able to strip Mars of practically all its atmosphere.
