Ah---my first thought was 'quintuple heart bypass surgery', ala Dave Letterman, who also seemed to thereafter be accompanied by two gorgeous babes---but upon viewing the rest of the pix, looks like you had an even better time.

So what was this event?

So what was this event?

I would guess a sci/fi convention (but I knew that already)... I do see some "Dr. Who" folks in the photos. (I also remember ToSeek is a big Dr. Who fan.)

Slaps forehead...

I looked at that picture and thought, that lady looks like Katie Manning! It never occurred to me that she might actually be Katie Manning. Or that the other lady might be Liz Sladen!

Mind you, ToSeek, you didn't do as well as a certain Dalek circa 1974!

Incidentally, did you ever read a book called Doctor Who: The Suns of Caresh? 'Tis rumoured that I wrote it under a pseudonym.

OK...I found it (http://www.gallifreyone.com)...

ToSeek was at a Dr. Who convention...meeting up with all the "Dr. Who Babes"! Lucky guy.

'Fraid not. I never really got into the Doctor Who novels. It didn't help that they were released at a pace that made keeping up with them like trying to drink from a fire hose.

Well, two or three of them, at least.

The analogy can probably be taken further...

ToSeek, I met Richard Dawkins at James Randi's The Amaz!ng Meeting (http://www.badastronomy.com/fun/amazingmeeting2005.html), so I am one degree away from Lala Ward, too. 8)

Just remembered - when my mother was carrying me, she was on friendly terms with another pregnant woman. This woman later gave birth to Sophie Aldred, who played Ace.

I wrote a short story about Ace which got published in Doctor Who Magazine - and I was paid the princely sum of 40. I later wrote a short letter to Sophie, mentioning the story and our pre-birth "meeting", and complimenting her on her acting in some of her episodes. I got a really pleasant reply a few days later.

Hey ToSeek, looks like I'll be at ShoreLeave giving a couple of talks. Do you go to that one?

Which issue of DWM?

I used to be pretty friendly with Sophie back in the days when she did a lot of US conventions. (I ended up having to be her unofficial escort for a while at one badly organized convention - not an unpleasant assignment, certainly!)

Sometimes, not automatically. I'll bump it up on my priority list, though, now that I know you'll be there.

195. I'm pleased to say I had to look that up - I'm not too obsessive!

The story is closely based on actual events.
