The better part of a century before we could measure it, someone predicted that a rapidly rotating mass would drage space and time around it. We've seen that happen, so that someone was right. But how the dickens did he figure it out? And who was he, and when did he make his prediction?

Working from Einstein's relativity theory, Austrian physicists Joseph Lense and Hans Thirring predicted frame dragging in 1918. (It is also known as the Lense-Thirring effect.)
