Using data from the Juno probe and X-ray observatories. an international team of astronomers noticed that auroras on Jupiter operate independently of each other.

With every orbit the probe makes, it passes from one of Jupiter’s poles to the other – a maneuver known as a perijove.
Isn't perijove just the closest approach to Jupiter, like perigee is the closest approach to earth?
