A study team led from the University of Hawaii recently studied two inflated gas giants, and revealed a possible explanation as to why they are so "puffy".

"no means of testing" Indeed ? Did the models failed at computer implementation ?
"Several theories have been developed to explain this process, but no means of testing them have been available. As Grunblatt explained (http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/info/press-releases/PuffyPlanets/), “since we don’t have millions of years to see how a particular planetary system evolves, planet inflation theories have been difficult to prove or disprove.”
