View Full Version : September New Moon Spotting

2018-Sep-08, 04:56 PM
Itís nearly time for my monthly New Moon spotting challenge. Sharp-eyed North Americans with clear skies might be able to spot the more than one-day-old Moon after sunset on Monday, September 10. Others should have better luck during the following evening.

My preview graphics and more detailed article can be found at https://www.CurtRenz.com/moon.html

Photos and descriptions of the young crescent Moon this month would be welcome additions to this thread.

Below is a photo that I shot from Arlington Heights, Illinois of the Moon on 2007 SEP 13 at 19:36 CDT while it was aged 2.5 days.

I saw it from San Francisco. I found it with binoculars 20 min after sunset, but when I put them down, I had no problem seeing it naked eye and showing others where to look.
Thanks for the heads-up Curt!
