Welcome to the season of Mars.

Starting this week, the small swarm of spacecraft that left Earth last summer are going to be arriving, one after another. This week it starts with the UAE orbiter Al Amal (https://www.emiratesmarsmission.ae/) (Hope) entering orbit on Tuesday, and then China's Tianwen-1 (https://www.planetary.org/space-missions/tianwen-1) arrives Wednesday and will orbit for several weeks before deploying a lander. On February 18, NASA's Percy (https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/) will land, assuming all goes well.

Mars is known for being a bit hard on spacecraft (https://www.popularmechanics.com/space/moon-mars/a17407/mars-mission-failures/), and I expect scientists and mission engineers around the world will be getting a little less sleep than normal. We here at CosmoQuest wish all these teams the greatest success, and we'll bring you news on each of these missions as we get it.

In love and science,
Pamela
