Did you know that you can alter the text between the "Font colour" drop-down menu and the form that you type your post in when you're on the reply screen? (For example, I've changed "Bold text: [ b]text[/ b] (alt+b)" to "Hello")

Just an observation...

But can you use it? I couldn't

Why shouldn't you be able to use any combination of font styles?

Edit: or have I totally missed the point?

Missed the point, I'd say. The "tip" text that sits above the edit box is sort of editable. You can select and alter it. But, it changes as soon as you hover over some control that puts up new information about how it works. It's not too useful to change it.

For instance if you hover over the Bold B button, the tip becomes (with brackets replaced by braces):

Bold text: {b}text{/b} (alt+b)

That text can be selected and changed.

Probably, it is useful to be able to select it, for then you can copy parts of the text into your comments as a template, as I just did above. Or, I suppose you could use it in situ as a template, alter it as needed, then copy that change into your text.

Yes, no real use. I just thought it was strange to be able to do. It surprised me when ieSpell changed "color" to "colour" there.
