Once humans colonize Mars, I wonder if Cydonia could be turned into a space port. The *cough* "pyramids" and "the face" could be hollowed out and made into naturally shielded hotels and office buildings and use the flat part for a landing area. Also, a museum could be erected displaying the various spacecraft that have be recorved (i.e. viking, sojourner , MER, beagle, and CEV).However the crazies might call it desecrating ancient history, me I call it progress. 8)

The latitude is too high for our puny civilization, we would still need to be near the equator. Maybe after they get the big transporters working over at Utopia Planitia?

Once we get a base built near the equator, we can build a bunch of fake ancient ruins around the Face. Then charge space tourists out the wazu to see them. Included in the tour would be the Hoagland Museum.

I thought about that. In a science fiction series I dreamed up, ther is an alien race who have been living underground on Mars for the last century or so and messing with RCH for years as sort of a prank, which has actually become a national pastime since the "canali" were spotted many years ago 8)

I love it! Do a Rushmore and really turn it into a face--and finally build those canals so it will look like its supposed to.

I'm still bummed that the moon isn't as craggy as once depicted. Too rounded by meteor 'gardening.'

i found further proof that richard was right!!!!
if you carefully examine the picture i have put up, you will find further conclusive proof that the martians were trying to send us a message by moving many hundreds of cubic kilometers of rock
