 Hi everybody,
We are trying to design a space colony for about a 100 thousand people for a competition.
We want the project to be the best so if you have any ideas of what we could try to include in the colony and other related subjects post your message here. We'll be very happy to see your point of view too.

I'm sure people here would be happy to help but first you have to give everyone a few guidelines: Where is this colony? on the moon? in orbit? and other information.

Do you have a link?

Just off the top of my head :
Do you need 100% recycling of material or is resupply expected?
Energy Source - solar, nuclear, other?
Protection from hazards (radiation, micrometeorites, incompetence, etc)
Gravity - weightless, lower than Earth, higher than Earth
Capacity for population growth.
Functions able to handle population decline.
Distance into future - now, near now, far?
Cost/Benefit - this base will COST - where is the payback? (Form of payback depends on who is bankrolling)

Less important for a normal project but would have to be considered for a real system :
Policitical considerations - effects how self-sufficent the colony has to be, whether the requirements exist for active defences against other humans etc.
