I caught the eclipse the other night. Just thought I'd share a pic.

LX200GPS 10" Nikon Coolpix 995 40mm ep/digi adapter.

I tried out the New Meade LPI the other night after the eclipse. Focus was not very good and Saturn was still pretty low in the sky but I shot it anyway :)

10" LX200GPS Meade LPI 2.5x powermate.

I combined this image from 2 composite each being made up of 25 images.

Aside from the focus issues I think the LPI captured the color quite well. It has some promise.

I reckon. Well done Grizz. Your moon pic is now my background on my computer... at least for the next few days or so. So many great pictures, so little time...

Hey Grizz. Another nice pic. Not quite as crisp as the moon shot but still impressive. Can see the bands and a break in the rings. Very cool. If you are right into astro-photography then perhaps you would like to continue this thread whenever you have some new pics for us. I know I'd like to see them. Maybe another one will make it onto my computer background?! Good luck.

I'm also going to link the two threads (the moon pic and this one) into one. make it easy for people to see them all.

I love the picture of the moon! How did you get the varying colors? It looks amazing!

Thanks folks, I appreciate the kind words :)

Josh, Yeah the Saturn shot my focus was horrible. My bad :) I was setup on my rear deck (to accomodate the elcipse viewers I had over) and way to many vibrations for high mag astropotography.

matthew, I really didn't do anything but push the shutter button :) Thats the color I saw on the LCD and the camera got it.

I'll be out this week a few nights and I'll try a better Saturn (in focus this time) and a Jupiter

Thanks again for the nice comments.

Have you seen a lunar eclipse before Matthew? There was one in Melbourne a couple of years ago (supposedly the longest for 100000 years or something).

Very good pic. But how did you get that on here?
I tried to copy and paste a diagram of the nearset stars, and got no where.

Planetwatcher, did you use the IMG button when you tried to add your photo?

When replying, if you click on the IMG button, then paste the URL of the photo you want to include in the pop-up box (eg, http://hometown.aol.com/grizz98tjeep/image.../saturncab.jpg) (http://hometown.aol.com/grizz98tjeep/images/saturncab.jpg)) then it will insert the photo into your reply.

Obviously the photo needs to be available online for this to work :)

Those pictures are absolutely amazing. I'm trying to save up money to buy a telesope myself. Do you guys have any tips on that, I still can't decide between reflector and refractor...

I missed the eclipse, I was at a band competition... grrr..... but we took first place in our division in finals so that's some compensation.. and I fnally get to have physics now too  that makes me happy

I have, but it wasn't like that, at least not what I remember.

Thank you Dippy Hippy. I see it near the QUOTE button. I've wondered what that and some of those others were for. Such as the http:// , @ , CODE , and LIST ,
I suppose I'll have to try them sometime and see.
