View Full Version : Discussion: Make Your Own Mars Express Model

2003-Dec-08, 08:39 AM
SUMMARY: Okay, this is pretty cool... the European Space Agency is providing plans so you can build a 1:40 scale model of the Mars Express spacecraft - the real one will reach Mars on December 25th, 2003. I took a quick look at the plans and it's a little challenging, but, it could be fun if you're handy with glue and scissors. You'll also want access to a colour printer when you print off the templates. They've also got links to other spacecraft, like SOHO.

Click here to access the plans.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks Fraser. This looks like an medium to hard model (by my standards anyway;)). If anyone is interested there are lots of other paper models of just about any spacecraft you can think of.
The best link I have found is http://www.freepapertoys.com/pt-space.html
This link has dozens of free paper models available on the net. Some are relatively easy (the nasa pioneer 10 model isn't too bad) and some are incredibly hard (try the international space station model if you want a challenge!)
There are also a number of "laser cut" paper models for sale on other sites. Just do a search on paper model spacecraft.
Have fun.
