Recently on another (unrelated) message board there was some discussion about star collisions. I though I had read somewhere that at no point have we actually witnessed two stars collide, but I can no longer find my source. I know there are many instances of orbiting stars where one is accreating material from the other, but to me that doesn't fit the description of two stars slamming into each other.

Does anyone have an answer to this? Have we ever witnessed a stellar collision? If so, any links to pictures would be nice. Thanks in advance.

i found some simulations, one of the reports state that neutron star collisions are common!
