SUMMARY: The Stardust spacecraft made history today when it passed through the tail of Comet Wild-2, and took some of the best pictures of a comet ever seen. During the flyby, Stardust got within only 230 kilometers of the comet's nucleus, and captured just a few grams of particles from Wild-2's tail. The collected particles, which are stored in a sample return capsule, will be brought back to Earth in 2006; it'll touchdown at a US Air Force testing range in Utah.

Does anyone have any idea what the "nose" feature of the face in the Wild-2-image could be?
The one at the edge at approximately 2 o'clock?

I think its the headline feature for next weeks "world weekly news" or whatever they call such papers in your home town
But seriously, B)
I'm finding lots of info on Stardust, but not the comet... How far across is the comet in the picture, Inquiring minds want to know!

I guess we'll have to wait for the Nature or Science publication, they certainly have my attention.
Damienpaul, about the bet on what they will find in the dust of the comet? What's at stake, and I'd like to bet that they will find exactly the opposite of what is expected.
