A simple question. Why does the Alcubierre Warp Drive require negative energy densities?

Probably because if something bigger than light particles were to suddenly do ftl travel, it would collapse without negative energy. Also, I assume mass and energy are positive reciprocals at v<c, but neg. reciprocals when v>c.
