Here's a link to a New Scientist story about Solar Spicules.

NS: Solar Spicules - Explained (http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99996217)

They are apparently caused by p-waves guiding magnetic fields to the surface.

I believe there is another thread discussing this...should we really have two?

I think I remeber in between October and November 2003, an huge flare so called the CME hit Earth and now it's about time to overtake Voyager 1, but does the Solar spicules has anything to do with the CME anyway  ?

The other thread is in the Stories section. This thread was posted several hours before it came out as one of the stories that Fraser featured [as sometimes happens]. After that I abandoned this one, and followed up comments in the other thread. Now, three days later, you seem to be criticizing me. Do you have a specific suggestion for how you think this should be handled differently?

Perhaps you have a suggestion on how to unify all the many threads on manned missions to Mars too?

I'm sorry if I had offended you, Anton...I was merely just curious. Pardon my behavior.
