View Full Version : Longer Solar Cycles?

Could there be a cyclic process of alternating strengths of the interplanetary magnetic field, on a scale unobservable to us because of lack of long-term data?
And if so, could this cause periods of decreased energy intake from reconnection, bringing about changes in the earth's magnetosphere?

I ask theese questions because of the recent findings of the sun being brighter now than over the last 8000 years. And if this is the case could this indicate such a long-term cycle?
Moreover could this be used in addition to Milankovitch cycles in determining times of glaciation on Earth?(this is the point of my search)

Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.
