SUMMARY: Greetings, fellow SkyWatchers! This week will bring some excitement as asteroid Pallas flies through the galaxy fields of Virgo and the Moon occults Antares for Hawaii. We'll focus on exploring some strange and unusual nebulae, and learn why it's "aurora season". The week will end with the several meteor streams and the opposition of Jupiter. So grab those binoculars, set up the telescope and hope for clear skies, because...

It has come to my attention that a widely read publication has also given a chart for finding asteroid Pallas this coming week. Like this publication, I use a software tool to locate an asteroid's position on any given date and time. But I do not use another publication to rely on for my information....

Apparently the two programs put Pallas in different positons!

For those of you interested, go to:

http://www.fourmilab.ch/yoursky/

Tell the program to "locate object" - select "Pallas 2" and enter the universal date and time and ask the program to update. Where is Pallas?

I hope this clarifies any confusion.

Best,
