Here's an article about the production of Nanotube sheets being produced in more efficient, faster ways. Looks like using these in a practical manner is getting ever closer. Right now they're able to produce 10m of 5cm-wide sheets in a minute. Read more here. (http://www.nature.com/news/2005/050815/full/050815-8.html)

Thanks for a nice read. Where can we get the physical properties (tensile strength to mass ratio) of ribbons made by this process? It's nice that they are transparent. With a light metallic overcoat and an interior sealer they may have usefulless as a spacesuit in addition to making a nice window for passing collimated beamed energy to an ion engine powered Earth-to-Earth-orbit vehicle.

This is very good news, Nanotech is a hugely exciting industry with a great amount of potential in the years going forward and refining production techniques is obviously very important to making it a cost effective investment.

Very good news, I like your suggestion of incorporating nano-fibres into future space-suit designs Gourdhead, very innovative suggestion.
