View Full Version : Newborn Black Holes

2005-Sep-07, 05:06 PM
SUMMARY: NASA's Swift satellite has found brand new baby black holes, just seconds after birth. These newborn black holes are created at the heart of massive star explosions, called gamma ray bursts, and actually generate multiple blasts over the next few minutes. Nearly half of the gamma ray bursts seen by Swift follow a similar model, where there's an initial release of gamma rays, and then followed by several X-ray after-explosions as matter falling into the new black hole clogs up and releases more energy.

i wonder if as the hole collapses it goes ftl(as it seems like it must at some point)thereby messing with the "law"of time.that could be an explaination for the multiple blasts observed.question...what energy signature does each explosion event have?similarities/differences?
just a thought

These observations are pretty consistent with the 'recoil' school of thought. The initial collapse is extremely energetic, but the collapsing layers rebound, then emit at progressively [and typically exponentially] lower energies as they stabilize during a succession of recollapse events..
