View Full Version : Rosetta Delayed by Technical Glitch

2005-Sep-11, 07:29 PM
SUMMARY: Last night's launch of the European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft was called off because of a problem with the Ariane 5 rocket. A 10 cm by 15 cm piece of insulation had broken off of the rocket; it might have been blown off during the previous day's high winds. Repairs will take a few days, and controllers are now targeting their next launch attempt on Tuesday. Rosetta still has until March 17 to get off the ground if it's to meet up with its cometary target by 2014.
