Just like this one was:

There'll be plenty more where those came from, each totally fake. That picture could be ripped from anywhere.

Er... that's Io. I probably would have been able to identify that as Io when I was six years old. The volcanic plume kinda gives it away.

Heh. Liked that one of Io!

Well, it shows the stupidity or gullibility of a PX believer. At first, they believed the volcanic eruption was the tail of Planet X!

The one at the top of thread looks like it comes from a SOHO image. Due to the physics of the instrumentation, when SOHO takes a coronograph, planets and bright stars can produce an image artifact of a straight line going through them parallel to the bottom of the image. (It doesn't matter which way the object is actually travelling in the image; the line will be left to right.) Some "theorists" speculate that these are not planets or stars -- they are actually alien spacecraft. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Such objects also typically appear heavily pixelated, because they are at the bottom limit of the instrument's resolution. This is probably a background star from a SOHO coronograph, or possibly a planet.

Not only that, but the background is not deep space, it is the clearly the cloud belts of Jupiter. Odd that Planet X was between Earth and Jupiter just when they took the photo, huh?

That's a very compelling square planet.

Are all people from there "Squares"? Only time will tell.

The image of Io was mistaken by Mark Hazlewood to be Planet X. That little episode of his is documented on my pages about him.

The square image is an artifact on the image, of course. I wrote a long piece about that sort of thing in this forum as well (http://www.badastronomy.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=2512&forum=10&17).

Didn't he later blame you for it?

Sort of. He includes me in the "disinfo" group that he claims sent him the picture.
On my Hazlewood page (http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/planetx/hazlewood.html) I quote his website:

"The powers that be, which includes Phil aka Bad astromomer, sent me what they said was an anonymous pic of Planet X. One day later I realized this and got rid of it. Immediately they started using this story to try to discredit all the other information I present, which was their original intention."

Of course, he has no real idea whether I sent him the picture or not (I didn't), nor what the "original intent" was of the person who did. He likes to make stuff up out of thin air, of course. He has made a lot of claims about me, not a single one of which he backs up with any sort of fact, citation or actual evidence. But who needs evidence when he can sow distrust?

I personally can't wait to train my telescope on Nibiru when it gets close enough. I'm pretty sure that one hemisphere has oddly shaped mountain ranges that spell out:
