View Full Version : Orion on the Horizon

Here's an image from last week, it's a set of four stitched together and covers about 180 degrees from Pisces in the north (left), around to Carina in the south(right). Mars is the bright yellowish object left of center and stars Sirius and Canopus are to the right. Orion is at the center and the Pleiades are just sneaking in the bottom.

Camera used was a Canon 10D with the lens at 21mm f4 and ISO800, each shot was 4 minutes long and I used a diffuse filter as well. Image stitching was done with PTGui. Location Wairarapa, New Zealand.

That is a magnificent image, Chris. I don't know how I missed it - date says it was posted 6 days ago. Do you have other sets like this?

Excellent work as usual Chris! You should also post shots like this on IceInSpace, there's some other very good DSO and widefield photographers there that you can share your work with.
