Hey, when did google ads become those typical graphic banner ads that every other website uses?? The last time I noticed them, google ads were nice, unobtrusive, and even matched the color scheme of the website they were placed on. Did google sell out?

Believe it or not, they're still text. I'm thinking that the container the text is inside of is coded to act like a hyperlink.

Edit: Hmm, well... Now I'm looking at the Telescopes.com banner. I never realized it was served up by Google until now.

Not the one I just got - it has a company logo and an illustration of a Christmas present.

This has been touted before, but what the heck.

Firefox with Adblock (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=10) will make those ads dissapear completely, I didn't even know they'd changed.

Edit: I should say, however, that it never hurts to turn it off for a while and click on some ads, as doing so generates the revenue that this site needs to stay around.

Whatever the change was, it apparantly was simultaneous
with IE finally no longer crashing on me. It had been crashing
about one in four times that I moved between pages that
contained ads, for several weeks.
