Any particular reason why?

Nicolas
2006-Jan-05, 08:50 PM
Because it's spreading :)

Oh well, no reason to close it. If it continues, there obviously was a need for it.

Otherwise it will die out. That happened before. How many people still look up when somebody screams "olé!"? :D

The_Radiation_Specialist
2006-Jan-05, 08:51 PM

Point made, sir. Poignant moderation standards punish my silliness. Posting more salient posits might sooth pressing matters sanely.

If you don't like a thread, you are under no obligation to read it. I've no interest in the Word Association thread or the Acronyms Game thread. I don't read them. There are whole fora I don't read, simply because the discussion is usually way over my head.

If I were a moderator, there are certain people I doubt would be here, but I'm not a moderator, so I bow to their decisions.

HenrikOlsen
2006-Jan-05, 09:15 PM
To get back to the original question, there's some threads where I would have intervened earlier, but that may be because I'm in a different timezone.
I do very seldomly take it upon myself to PM a participant to suggest a cooling off period if things look like they might get out of hand.

No, its not like that. I like all the threads, some less than others. If you take the hint from my emoticons you can see that I am not that serious about actually becoming a moderator and closing all PMS threads. :)

If I were a moderator, I'd let threads get completely out of hand and then capriciously ban a few random people for it. That or come over all indecisive and ask my fellow moderators to second-guess me all the time. I'm rubbish at moderating.

And how would that be possible if my thread was banned?

I think that we've made our point. The PMS Cult does not take kindly to threats. You have been warned.

just right down what you would do (differently) if you were a moderator. Thanx! :D

Well, several people would have been banned or at least "nudged" towards giving actual responces without the same old drivel and garbage. I won't mention names for civility and decorum.

I'd also make my rank "Supreme Demon God!", and then lay about to make an eternal dark abyss for everyone.

Then I'd develop a God Complex. After all, with great power, comes great opportunity to abuse that power!

Myself. No question. I'm clearly the most subversive-yet-under-the-radar person here. I'm definitely "part of the problem".

Well, I'm a mod on a large forum (14,000+ members). Some of the users see us as "jackbooted fascist bullies," but we're actually very carefull. If we were just to let things roll, I think the same people that critisize us now would run screaming for more order. It's good to know that most of the long-time members appreciate our work.

BTW, the fastest ban on our site was about 15 seconds after the first post: some porn spammer came on the site just as one of the admins was posting. Post, delete, ban. Bing, bang, bum. :D

Musically speaking, here's a song I love:

"The Boys Are Backkin' Town"

My favorite cartoon type fantasy show:

"Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends"

The character Blue looks like a thumb
The Duchess looks lika a Picasso
The scary Big Friend Monster looks like he leaped out of the book, "Where The Wild Things Are"
The rabbit runs the home, his human is a little old lady that never gave him up.
Blue just stays there, his little boy human never gave him up either.

Am I spiraling off topic? Good

My favorite radio station:
JKQK "JACKFM" 93.7 Out of Roseville CA
