take the the 7 letter word and make a new word: or subtract 1 letter and add 1 letter to make a new word

for example

resting -s +a = tearing

or

resting = stinger

the first word is

Since this is called "the scrabble game," doesn't that imply seven-letter words?

I'm still going to bend the rule a little:

Since this is called "the scrabble game," doesn't that imply seven-letter words?In scrabble, if you use all seven of your tiles, you can still include one letter (or more) from those already on the board. The Official Scrabble dictionary includes all words of eight letters or less, or tries to.

And what's wrong with words of less than seven letters? I sometimes am forced into playing such words. :)

Just a slight suggestion here. How about if we change the -1/+1 rule into this:
a) a player can either deduct one letter and add as many as he wishes or
b) add one letter and deduct as many as he wishes

Somehow I believe this would make the game quite easier to play, but still quite fun, because some limitations are still intact, for example, you can't go directly from "drunk" to "rocket" :)

Would you agree to this change so we have a little bit more dynamic game? I'd for sure like it better.

EDIT: Nicolas - the picture in the avatar is actually me, and I'm quite sure it depicts male person ;)
