SUMMARY: NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has spotted a ring of cometary debris surrounding white dwarf star G29-38. Using its infrared vision, Spitzer was able to pick out the characteristic signature of small, dirty silicate grains, which are probably from comets. G29-38 probably consumed its planets 500 million years ago when it expended into a red giant, but the comets were out of its reach.
