Who else went for the ride?

Stardust Microchip FAQs (http://stardust.jpl.nasa.gov/overview/microchip/)

This one was cool in that the names (or signature images, in the case of Cassini) weren't simply encoded into binary, but were etched as actual roman characters (http://stardust.jpl.nasa.gov/classroom/zoom.html), readable with a powerful microscope without decoding necessary.

Well, my name is Paul Jones - a pretty common name. There's probably 150 of "me" on there already :)

I'm there. But then, I belong to The Planetary Society and they supplied their membership list for the project. (I'm also on Mars and I don't remember where else. Ah, the bennies of being a member!)

I did! I did! I also put all my friends and family members names on as well! I was labelled as a geek by some and cool by others. I have actually kept track every so often of where "we" all were. Something I ordinarily wouldn't do.

My name is on both chips, but my name is on all of those things. They always put out a sign-up sheet for names at the JPL (http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/) cafeterias, and I always sign up. If I can't go, at least my name can!

Then that should put you near the top of their eradication list when the Martians eventually arrive in their war machines! ;)

I wonder what happens to them now. I suppose some museum will eventually get the return capsule with the chips attached.

Maybe the Smithsonian Air and Space Mueeum can give it a home.

Meanwhile, the copies of the two chips are riding the mothership in heliocentric orbit.
