LIFF (n.)

A book, the contents of which are totally belied by its
cover. For instance, any book the dust jacket of which
bears the words. 'This book will change your life'.

Throw four, and you will have more than 50% probability of getting 6 ;)

I have no idea what the question means, but I like the comments in this thread.

BTW, did you know there is a song called Pi on Kate Bush's new album:

The only option missing, in the poll, is "Who ate all the pies?"

Unless you've just shelled out for Weapons Development. Four rolls then has a probability of 0 if you're rolling it and almost 1 of getting at least two sixes if it's been rolled by the opposition. :eh:

No, I can't prove it, this is through long (suffering) empiric observation.

Ironically, the odds reverse themselves completely during the combat phases, where I throw little but sixes, and the opposition never seems to.

Ah, c'est la guerre.

Pray each die Land on its' 1 (then set them all down on their one dot) you should "end up" with all sixes ;)

Well, it could be, but you'd have to get the white mice to rebuild their larger computer to eventually find out for sure, then convince the Vogons to reroute their highway, at least until the computer finished computing the blasted question this time around!

OK let me 'splain it better.

The one dot is exactly opposite the six dots, opposing ends all add up to seven.
If you place a die (singular) on a table with the one dot touching the table, you should be viewing the six dot (which is facing the ceiling). I don't have any dice to look at to be sure, but that is the layout that comes to mind. 4 & 3 are opposite, 5 & 2, etc.

Feel a bit better?

They didn't want to continue to argue, they wanted to continue to matter. If the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything was known, People would no longer need to ask philosophers that question. The philosophers banded together to pay off whomever was in charge of the hyperspace route, who in turn hired the Vogons. I think that was how it all played out, over the course of 2 to 4 of the books. It was then chnged in the last one.:)

So are you saying the Vogons were hired by the Philosophers Union to get rid of the Earth because Those Darn Humans were getting too close to the answer?

Bah... silly memory :o It was actually a consortium of psychiatrists. The guy who did the hiring was Gag Halfrunt. It's in the frist few pages of chapter 2 of The Restaurant at the End of the Univesrse. The Philosophers were the ones that pitched a fit on Chapeter 25 of the first book.
