Anyone hear of them ? They had those cards back in the 80s doing themes like Cars ( corvette, jaguar, porsche ), Marvel-heros ( captain-america, wolverine, spiderman ), Bikes and so forth

You shuffle and deal them out and the person with the higest value for each card wins

I got to see one called Top-Trumps Space-Phenomena, but it has some very bad astronomy - they mix up kilometres & light years, give negative mass numbers, and state some comets were discovered before our Sun was 'discovered'

Has anyone seen these cards ?

Yeah, my son had quite a few sets when he was young, mainly cars. I never came across an astronomy set.

There's a few sets kicking around here too. Likewise, I can't remember seeing an astronomy one.

I don't recall a lot on it but they seem to have re-marketed the 80s cards or done a second-printed edition of the cards since 2004/2005, I'll keep an eye out for them or try to find out more on the web

They're all over the place here, in shops everywhere - loads of different kinds. The rights to them were bought in 1999, the last original pack was released in about 1987. Here (http://www.toptrumps.com/)'s the official Top Trumps website!

I've never seen an astronomy one either, but we had one with spacecraft, which had a mixture of sci-fi ones (from movies and TV series) and real ones, which was bizarre (but fun). I think it was from Hemma or FX Schmidt, from the early eighties.
Another one had record breaking cars (the Green Monster, Blue Flame, the Campbell cars, ...) and for some reason included a Valkyrie (I think, or perhaps a Blackbird) and an X-15.

Just stumnbled over this post while doing a little research and was intrigued by it. The pack in question is

Space Phenomena 2004 (http://www.ultimate-top-trumps.co.uk/winning_moves_04.htm#space_phenomena)

This was again released again 2005, but corrected

Space Phenomena 2005 corrected (http://www.ultimate-top-trumps.co.uk/winning_moves_05.htm#space_phenomena_05)

The website in question, Ultimate Top Trumps (http://www.ultimate-top-trumps.co.uk) is my own and the packs in question can be viewed as a slideshow so you can see each card in the packs.

These titles were the only ones so far released that concentrate wholly on objects in space although there have been others such as Apollo, Space Rockets but these are just looking at craft not objects.

I had hours of fun with those as a child. Thank you, and welcome to BAUT. Hope you stick around. :)

They are popular today, My 9 year old loves them. He has a good Dr Who set.
Channel 5 (UK) has a series called 'Top Trumps' the two presenters (One of them is Robert Llewellyn, Kryten in Red Dwarf) take an item each and then spend the prog comparing them.

I want to see a TOp Trumps 'Serial Killers' set :)

I have been 'badgered' many times to create a pack and I am looking seriously into creating some packs not based around the Winning Moves style and with licensing but more down to erth things and it is funny you should mention Serial Killers but I am hoping to do a pack on murderers!

I am also doing a pack on Constellations and will let you know when this is released, if I can get it printed!
