View Full Version : Hooters Air Goes Bust

After a run of three years, Hooters Air of Myrtle Beach, SC has bumped up against quitting time. (http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld/myrtlebeachonline/14211018.htm) This leaves small metro area such as Wilkes-Barre, PA without service to Florida. (http://www.aviationnow.com/avnow/news/channel_airports_story.jsp?id=news/WIL03286.xml) As might be expected, a lot of communities and companies that initially supported Hooters Air are now feeling let down.

One wonders what kind of airline food was served on the flights, and whether this might have been a contributing factor in the airline getting by on a Buffalo wing and a prayer the last few years. Then again with a name such as Hooters, it's not surprising the venture turned out to be a fly-by-night enterprise.

The airline's home page is http://www.hootersair.com/.

Jay Leno gave the cause of the business failure as "not enough turbulence" ;)

One of the things I find appealing about Hooters is that there is no pretension of why people go there. The food is about as plain, ordinary, and simple as it gets.
