View Full Version : NGC 2070-canon 300D (unmodified)/ED 80

Last weekend despite intermittent cloud, managed these two frames of the tarantula nebula

scope ED 80 (autoguided)
camera canon 300 D (unmodified)
mount CG 5
processing IRIS/ABE/Photoshop

One frame was of 612 secs (ISO 400) and the other 801 seconds (ISO 200). These were stacked in IRIS, gradient (the object was quite low, so there was quite a bit of light pollution) removed with several passes through ABE, and finally some processing in Photoshop (by my son who took over at this stage), here is the result

Impressive work for such a short exposure, very nice photo!!
Interesting to see this photo for me, because I have almost the same equipment and are going to test it next autumn (too bright skies here during the summer).

Is that the Orion 80ED? If so I am more and more impressed with that little scope.

well it is actually a clone, but as far as I can tell, pretty much indistinguishable from the Orion.
