Well, if heroin didnīt do it, nothing will...

Could anybody explain me what a 62-year-old fellow was doing atop a palm tree?

My theory is that Keith Richards has actually been dead for the last 15 years or so, it's just that no one's bothered to tell him, so he just keeps walking around.

I'm told--don't know if the guy who told me actually knew or was just making it up--that he was gathering coconuts. That makes the incident make a tiny bit of sense, but still. You'd think Keith Richards could make a flunky climb the tree for him.

The way it was on the news here, he was gathering coconuts indeed. Nothing about possible (permanent) brain damage was mentioned though, Just a concussion (which is indeed brain damage, but not as it is usually meant).

Perhaps after 40+ years abuse, climbing a tree is the sole remaining way he can get high...

I can't believe this.
Not that a 62 year old man should climb, and fall out of a tree.
That no one is familiar with one of the Stones' favourite songs.
Surely Mick is singing, "Hey! Keef! Get outta that tree!"

Why does anybody top a palm tree? :)

For gathering coconuts? :)

Itīs funny how I never did something like that. I always have somebody fetch it for me when I want some. Iīm happy that he still has the energy [and will] for such a stunt.

Lol, probably so, because there's not much left of him to abuse. Poor guy. I like his lyrics best.

You know, sometimes at the beach I get to think seriously about climbing one of those to gather cocoes. It amazes me to see people doing that for fun, because it´s like 'living la vida'. Like 'lets forget about it all and go grab those coconuts'. The French call it 'joie de vivre'.

So what are you waiting for? One to fall on your head and wake you up? Time isn't always on your side, you know. ;)

From here on we could, in honor of the Undead Keith, speak only in Rolling Stones lyrics.

Is it true that all palm trees produce coconuts?

Josh
2006-May-12, 02:04 AM
No. Some would produce dates. It's a Date Palm isn't it? So then are coconuts from Coconut Palms? I haven't heard that term before (which doesn't mean it's not the reality).

Well, the media's not sure if he did it to impress some female, yelling from the top of the palm, "Look at that, stupid girl!" Richards was quoted as saying that all he thought of as he fell was, "It's all over now!"

The nurses in the New Zealand hospital reported he was quite calm during his stay there, commenting that, "Some persons with similar injuries tend to go bananas and drive us out of our heads." To relieve internal pressure caused by the wound, the surgeons decided to let it bleed.

One nurse was really touched when he presented her with a ruby, Tuesday. Richards did complain about some of the scents used by the lab technicians, telling one in particular, "Lord I swear the perfume you wear was made out of turnip greens." It must be hell how the press has demonized him over the years. As a result I have sympathy for the devil.

Richards paid his entire bill before leaving the hospital and going home, where his wife Patti remarked, "Look what the cat dragged in!" Meanwhile, the accountant in the hospital's billing department was really pleased when she received Richards' check, remarking that, concerning his bill, she could now paint it black.

So what are you waiting for?

Well, thereīs a lot of work involved, and Iīm lazy by the sea. I prefer long walks by the sea side. Another reason is that there arenīt so many palm trees in our southeastern beaches.

Climbing a palm tree is not for the faint-hearted [not that I am one]. Some get to reach 20 meters [~60 ft] high. Takes a lot of skill.

Time isn't always on your side, you know. ;)

Yeah, I know dear. Richards is right in seizing his days. ;)

Happy Birthday Doodler!

Mine is on Sunday, so they bought my cake and all today. My co-worker, besides blaring my age out to everybody (not that I care much) also bought me a gift bag stuffed with Reese's, as if I really need more sugar!

Supreme Canuck's birthday is Tuesday, I remember, and Argo's was Apr 23, right? Eeek, I missed it. :o

Of course the alternative to getting old isn't much fun, so I guess I'll try to age gracefully. No climbing palm trees for me! :)

No; he was already in the desert by then. He will be back for a few days starting Wednesday, though, so maybe we'll pick it up then. (I'm actually not much of a Stones fan, but Keith Richards as a concept amuses the heck out of me. Mick also does a very good Keith impersonation, as seen on at least one episode of SNL.)

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has given up drugs because they’re too weak nowadays.

He told Q magazine: "I think the quality's gone down. All they do is try and take the high out of everything.”

He did, however, confess to over using during his recent fall from grace out of a Fijian bush.

“I've had a couple of weeks on morphine. I did try to squeeze a little bit more out of the night nurse. She was very accommodating."
