SUMMARY: As Comet 73P/Schwassman-Wachmann 3 is falling apart before our eyes, astronomers from around the world have been recording and studying the process. This recent photograph, released from the Spitzer Space Telescope, shows 45 of the comet's 58 known fragments. The infrared telescope also has a great view of the cooler dust particles that fill in the trail between the comet chunks.

I love that photo. I always thought those lines you see for the orbits of planets and other objects were just immaginary, but if you look at that photo, you can see the line. ;)
