At a very distant quasar (http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/epo/pr/2003/starburstqso/)

Not only a view of the early universe, but, if the quasar proves to vary enough to detect, it would provide another yardstick for distance measurements, and apparently the biggest one yet.

That picture looks like a fried egg. :P

So how accurate would this distance measurement be? Would it be better than what we have now, or would it only help to confirm current estimates?
