I just discovered this site: http://www.alanbeangallery.com/

It contains copies of all of Alan Bean's paintings, along with a biography.

I'm starting to think I could seriously wish to own one of those paintings, both for their artistic value, and for the man who painted them.

I love these paintings! My favorite is the one where Alan Shepard is hitting the golf ball. What fun that must have been! I would love to take a bag of clubs up there and hit a bucket of balls. It's the only way I'll ever carry 300 on a drive.

I'm always astounded when I see someone with gifts in such varied areas--astronaut and artist. Most of us would be delighted to be able to do either. I like the Apollo Moon painting best.

I was also glad that Ulli (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/ulli.html) Lotzmann and Eric (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/emj.html) "ALSJ (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/)" Jones managed to do this online gallery. I had the pleasure to help a little bit with streamlining and debugging.

Ulli is a long-year ALSJ contributor, good friend of Al Bean, proud owner of one original by Al and started himself painting some time ago.

Eric has recently added Ulli's Apollo Sketchbook (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/UL-sketches.html) to the ALSJ. Ulli's sketches are from the lighter side, but many agree that he catches the spirit of Apollo very well in a special way.
