U.S. director George Lucas has given permission for the "Star Wars" saga, which lasted for over 13 hours, to be shortened to a production of just 20 minutes, officials from Britain's Reduced Shakespeare Company said Tuesday.

I wonder if they will do it in the order they were made or the storyline order?

Ah, the Reduced Shakespeare Company can be quite funny... When they're making fun of the plays and not trying to come up with their own jokes.

SW should give them plenty of material to work with, so hopefully that won't be a problem.

All I can say is that when they do the show, Han better shoot first!

And maybe they can cut out Jar-Jar Binks in the interest of saving time.

Or in the interest of saving dignity.

The original, untampered with theatrical version from 1977 is released on DVD in September!

(also the original theatrical versions of Empire and Jedi)

Edited to point out - well, the "current" versions of the films are being released individually (previously only available as a box set) and each is a 2 disc set - disc 1 is the modern version, disc 2 is the original theatrical release.

Reductio Ad Absurdam did a great version at the 2005 World Science Fiction Convention (http://www.soren.demon.co.uk/lbia/Introduction.html).

It took a bit longer than 20 minutes, but I bet the RSC don't have audience participation with kazoos....
